Computer Build, Revised

Well, as it turns out, I can’t use the Mac G4 case after all.  I spent last weekend drilling and cutting, making everything nice and neat.  No sharp edges, burrs or crooked cut lines.

Spent all day Saturday working on it, then started the building process on Sunday.  Got all the parts and I’m ready to go.

Got the motherboard installed with the cpu, fan and memory modules.  Installed the power supply, which was a breeze, the three screw holes in the case fit the new unit with just a bit of enlarging the holes.  Put the blu-ray player/writer in the drive bay, again all the mounting holes lining up perfectly. Everything was looking good.  Went to close the side door……crap, something’s blocking the panel from closing. Shine the flashlight inside and I can see the the memory modules are hitting the drive bay.  And I can’t cut it because then the blu-ray player wouldn’t fit either, the memory would still hit

The memory modules aren’t in these pictures, but they hit the dvd tray right there where it starts to curve around. So I could build the computer without the Blu-ray, trimming the drive bay sheet metal. but without any kind of output device,  that kinda defeats the purpose of a graphics computer.  So, I take everything back out, wrapping it all back up in their packages, and start looking for a case.  Found one on eBay, should be getting it in a few days.
